Academic Criteria
- Minimum 60% marks required in the first attempt of each of class 10th, class 12th or diploma(if applicable)
- Minimum 60% required throughout the degree.
- A maximum of 1 pending backlog is permitted at the time of appearing in selection process and no backlog at the time of joining.( Backlogs must be cleared within the normal course duration)
- A gap in studies for up to 2 years is allowed for valid reasons.
- Candidates should not have attended the interview in the last 6 months.
TCS recruitment process consists of 4 round are as follows:
- Online Test
- Technical Round
- Managerial Round
- HR Round
1. Online Test
More than 60% candidate get eliminated in this round. You need a proper strategy and preparation to crack this round.
Exam Pattern and Syllabus: According to the latest TCS exam pattern, the entire exam is of 90 min and divided into 4 sections, which are as follows:

Verbal English: This is the very first section, newly added in place of e-mail writing. It consists of 15 MCQs, mostly sentence completions and spotting errors type.
Time limit: 10 minutes
Negative Marking: Yes, -1/3 for each wrong MCQ

Quantitative Aptitude: The second section is aptitude, which consists of 15 question which have both MCQs and non-MCQs. Mostly, questions are MCQs.

Negative Marking: There is a negative marking of -1/3 for each wrong MCQ, and there is no negative marking for non-MCQs; the marks for non-MCQs are 2x of MCQs.

Programming: This section consists of 10 questions based on C language, C++, and DSA. Most of the MCQs are based on the output of C programs.
Time limit: 20 min
Negative Marking: Yes, -1/3 for each wrong MCQ
Coding: The last section is a real-time programming. Consists of a single program question where you need to print the output. It is only for B.Tech students, not BCA and BSC
Choice: C / C++ / Java / Perl / Python 2.7
Time Limit: 30 min
Negative Marking: No
Sample questions for Coding are as follows:
Q1. Write a code to check whether no is prime or not. Condition use function check() to find whether entered no is positive or negative, if negative then enter the no, and if yes pass no as a parameter to prime() and check whether no is prime or not?
- Whether the number is positive or not, if it is negative, then print the message “Please enter a positive number.”
- It is positive, then call the function prime and check whether the given positive number is prime or not.
Q2. Checking if a given year is a leap year or not?
Q3. Sample Program to print all integers using command line arguments?
Q4. Calculate the length of the hypotenuse of a right-angled triangle?
Q5. Write a C program to convert binary to decimal using command-line arguments?
2. Technical Round
Candidates who pass the online test will be called for a technical Interview. In this round, questions are based on programming, operating systems, Data structures and Algorithms, DBMS, Polymorphism, linked lists, OOPs. Also, be ready for puzzle questions or even write code.
3. Managerial Round
In this round, interviewers ask questions related to your projects, hobbies, achievements, family background, and general questions to check your confidence, leadership quality, and time management skills. Sometimes you were provided with a situation to check how you respond.
4. HR Round
Very few were rejected in the HR round. In this round, there are some basic HR questions like
- What are your career goals?
- Questions related to your weaknesses and strengths,
- Why did you choose TCS?
- What do you know about TCS?
- Why should we hire you?
- Where do you see yourself five years from now?
