Prometric exam is an online CBT, which needs to be passed by all pharmacists who want to work in Gulf countries like Dubai, Qatar, Saudi, Oman, and other countries. Success in the Prometric exam requires thorough preparation. For good preparation, one must be aware of the Prometric exam syllabus and pattern.

Different Gulf countries’ Prometric exams like DHA, OMSB, SCFHS, and others have different exam patterns and difficulty levels. Let’s have a look at different countries’ exam patterns and syllabus.

DHA Exam for Pharmacist (Dubai):

You are required to clear the DHA exam if you want to work in Dubai as a Pharmacist. For the DHA exam, you must have a minimum of 2 years of experience.

DHA administers examinations for three distinct categories within the field of pharmacy: Pharmacists, Clinical Pharmacists, and Pharmacy Technicians

To schedule a DHA exam, you need to first generate a DHA unique ID from the Dubai Health Authority website. On the DHA website, you have to provide details of your qualifications and experience with the help of the self-assessment tool.

If you fulfill the criteria, a DHA unique ID will be generated. Which needs to be provided on the Prometric website to generate an eligibility number to schedule your DHA exam.

Pharmacists/Clinical Pharmacists

Syllabus: For Pharmacists and Clinical Pharmacists syllabus is the same, the complete syllabus is split into 10 major topics which are as follows:

  1. Toxico​logy
  2. Pregnancy and Lactation
  3. Pediatrics
  4. Geriatrics
  5. Pharmacy Calculation and Compounding
  6. Pharmacokinetics
  7. Pharmaceutical Care and Disease State Management
  8. Medication Safety
  9. Over the Counter Medication
  10. Pharmacy Law and Ethics

Exam Pattern: Pharmacists and Clinical Pharmacists exam pattern is the same, The DHA exam includes 150 MCQs which need to be solved in 165 minutes.
Passing Marks:  To pass the exam, Clinical Pharmacists need a minimum of 70% marks, while Pharmacists require a minimum of 60%.

Pharmacy Technician

Syllabus: The DHA exam syllabus for Pharmacy Technicians is notably less extensive when compared to the syllabus for the Pharmacists and Clinical Pharmacists categories.

  3. Over the Counter Medication
  4. Medication Safety
  5. Pharmacy Law and Ethics
  6. Chronic Illness
  7. Material Management

Pattern: 150 minutes No. of Questions: 100, Pass Score: 55%

Oman Prometric Exam for Pharmacists (OMSB):

“Eligibility ID” is not needed to schedule the Oman Prometric exam. One can book an exam directly from the Prometric website, without registering on the OMSB government website.

Syllabus: OMSB conducts exams for two categories: Pharmacists and Pharmacy Assistants.

Pharmacists

The OMSB exam for pharmacists is now conducted by Pearson VUE and features a revised syllabus. The latest syllabus includes topics and their respective weight percentages, outlined below:

  1. Patient-centered care and pharmacotherapeutics 30%
  2. Pharmacy practice 10%
  3. Quality and safety (good manufacturing practice, patient safety, and personnel safety) 10%
  4. Pharmaceutical sciences 10%
  5. Ethics, regulations, and professionalism 5%
  6. Research and evidence-based practice 5%
  7. Public health and health outcomes 5%
  8. Communication skills 5%
  9. Pharmacy management and administration 5%
  10. Pharmaceutical calculations 15%

Exam Pattern:  Consists of 100 MCQs with a time limit of  2.5 hours.
Passing Marks: A minimum of 60% marks is required to clear the exam.

Pharmacy Assistants

  1. Pharmacy Calculation 20%
  2. Pharmacy Compounding 10%
  3. Over the Counter Medication 15%
  4. Medication Safety 10%
  5. Pharmacy Law and Ethics 10%
  6. Chronic Illness 25%
  7. Material Management 10%

Qatar Prometric Exam for Pharmacists (DHP):

Syllabus: The complete syllabus for the Qatar Prometric exam is divided into 4 major topics which are as follows:

  1. Basic Biomedical Sciences – 15 Questions
  2. Pharmaceutical Sciences – 53 Questions
  3. Social/Behavioral/Administrative Sciences – 30 Questions
  4. Clinical Sciences – 52 Questions

Exam Pattern: Consists of 150 MCQs with a time limit of 3 ½ hours.
Passing Mark: A minimum of 60% marks is required to clear the exam.

Saudi Prometric Exam for Pharmacists (SCFHS):

Syllabus: The Saudi Prometric exam syllabus and topic-wise weightage of pharmacy are the same as DHA.
